NATIONAL YOUTH WEEK 2012

The state wide launch of National Youth Week was held at Bicentennial Square in Bunbury on Saturday the 14th April. National Youth Week is the largest celebration of young people in Australia. It empowers young people to come together to showcase their talents, discuss ideas and explore regional issues.

The South West Steering Committee made up of local young residents worked hard to bring to life the Grassroots Festival in Bunbury for local people aged between 12 and 25. A jampacked program ran from noon till 10pm.

Key components of the festival included live music from local artists, and the headline act 'The Novocaines', urban art workshops and exhibit, skating, scooter and BMX expo and workshops, rides and interactive displays and most importantly, a youth ‘side show alley’ packed with local services.

Investing In Our Youth polled young people at the launch in a survey to highlight key issues for young people and identify gaps in service delivery. The survey was funded through a small National Youth Week grant and was supported by Bunbury Retravision. National Youth Week poll 2012.
